How much do you want to spend? If you are looking for entertainment in the evening while cycle touring and don't mind spending $600 just get an I-pad. If you just want to read books, I have and love the Kindle touch. Mine cost $100 (comes with advertisements, pay more for no advertisements), free shipping, and I have maybe 20 books on it now, including an awesome collection of Jack London stories for $3. As mentioned the advertisements only come on the main screen when it is turned off and are on a small banner on the home page while it is turned on. They are not intrusive at all. Good books are kind of expensive I think, in the $8 - $10 range, but most libraries now have programs to borrow books on e-readers. A lot of older and not popular books, like Einstein's theory of relativity, are free. My local bookstore has a set of Matthew Henry Bible commentaries that they want $160 for, and I bought the whole set for my Kindle for about $12 if I remember right, so there are advantages.
