My experience with sanding epoxy is to be careful about heat.

You mention drum sanding. A drum sander can generate a lot of heat, which may cause the epoxy to partially melt and if this happens the wrap will be ruined. Very light passes are recommended, feeling the epoxy to check it is not getting too hot.

I have not had problems sanding epoxy, but it does create a lot of dust. I also recommend having dust collection, even if it is only a buddy holding a shop vac close to the sander.
