I understand the issue. Using (mostly) minimally skilled volunteers, you'd not want them running around nailing themselves to the structure; they'd need the EMTs standing by.

Remember to hold your nails "palm up".

Speaking of "palm", you might consider getting them to let you use a palm nailer as an alternative.
