John, all those exercises are most beneficial, but the problem with carpal tunnel is not weak hands or wrists....it is the tunnel where the nerves go thru in the wrist area. There is called the Traverse ligament which is causing the pressure on the nerves causing them to make the hand and fingers to go numb. Having the surgery cuts the ligament to ease the pressure...and the ligament grows back at a better length easing the pressure.
