Table top wax ()

By all means wax the tabeltop. Johnson Paste Wax is my choice.

Wax will act as a safeguard against a short-lived water droplet.
Was will reduce friction against the film finish. Think about sliding a newspaper across the finish...there is always dust (very fine abrasive) on a tabletop no matter how clean a house you keep.
Wax provides a velvety smooth surface that you'll love to run your hand over.
Cantrary to what you'll hear, you will not see fingerprints or smears on a sufce which has been properly waxed.
