IMHO the earlier design was innovative for that time and required a higher level of execution. I have met the later woodworker and I will keep my impression to myself.

I try not to condemn unless I know for sure. I have even caught myself congering up details that I later realize I subliminally took from memory. Once I catch it, to the trash goes that design!
