Yesw, Dick, that is what I have been doing. Bought some 1"x4"x8ft spruce from HD, cut it to lengths needed for individual spindles, glued two boards together to get 2"x4", divided them on the bandsaw to 1 15/16" each so now I have two sets from one glueing. Have seven different turnings x 2 to make for each chair. I found out the first turniung did not meet my satisfaction, so I selected another turning I made about 10yrs ago and made a model to use for the next turnings. They will be almost identical on each chair.
Redir 10 turnings today and more tomorrow. Two chairs....28 turnings.
Have decided to just keep on using my Shopsmith duplicator when turning. Shall try to make that back knife tool later.
