Hi Roger, I've seen the stock dust hood for the Planer, both in plastic and cast iron. I didn't care for the way it was designed to come straight out the back, and as you point out gets in the way. Thats why I designed the hood that I built to come out the side. As I pointed out earlier, I designed and built a dust hood for a Ryobi AP12 a few years ago with the same side outlet design and it works beautifully. I know that it is nice to keep the older machines looking as stock as possible, I'm a member of the Vintage Machinery website, but if there is room for improvement to a machine without doing irreversable damage to the machine itself, I will do it.
