I don't find that myself. But I wouldn't do a dangerous operation under any circumstances. Just taking a shortcut in expression. What I do know is that over 40 years I have done things that turned out to be dangerous, like used pieces of wood that shifted, ended up being an unsafe dimension (can vary a little from saw or even blade to blade), or pinched the blade (Inca is my first saw with a workable riving knife, and it is a bit of a pain at that, though for sure staying in place.) When bad things happen the 3/4hp saw my dad has will stop turning and blow a breaker. The 3hp saw I had will drive the piece through you. While I won't take shortcuts, I do occasionally try something new, and you never know...
Motor power and gearing do mater. On the old machine tools, guys used to get totally wrapped up, or if they were lucky they had the dungarees ripped off them, and they would be left standing naked with a shocked expression on their faces. I'm not a gloves guy, but recently was wearing some while using a drill press. I got wrapped in, but was lucky it was a 7" model and I could hold my own till I grabbed the switch. If that had happened on my Biggun that came with a 5hp 3 phase, I would still be out there. I'm considering making some leather cowboy cuff so that my shirts and sweaters are under control.
