Just on the bearing thing. I needed to mount some cartridge bearings in a piece of wood. The piece was rather oddly shaped, like a peanut, and while I could have location drilled it in a drill press, what I did was take a CPVC connector, and turn the outside on centers so it was cylindrical, then I bored the ends to hold the cartridge bearing to a tight fit (long point of skew). Then I just glued that part into the wood piece. That way the bearings were not in wood, and the CPVC has enough give to it, that it will transition the steel to wood without any problems one might have going direct. CPVC glues very well with epoxy if one preps it either with CPVC glue or hazes it with heat.
