So it appears that they may have been fire doors. Did they have UL IDs? Metal frames? If they are (were, actually) fire doors you may have some problems with local authorities since such doors, when they have lights, have special requirements like embedded-mesh panes. I hope that I turn out wrong but it can't hurt to look. Forewarned is forearmed.
