Re: Cost/benefit tradeoffs ( Larry )

Yeah Larry, theres a big difference in attitude when your retired. I'm not retired and not everyone else is either. I'm not jealous, I just tell it the way I see it, my experience with it all in 30 years as mostly a hobbyist. I've had some nice machinery that people I'm sure would like to have, a 2 hp Cyclone DC, a Oliver 159MW lathe, etc. sold them all because they weren't a neccessity in my shop. I don't have alot of money and I have to make the best use of what I have. Sure it would be nice to have a dedicated shop full of industrial woodworking equipment and the best in tools, that I could just walk into and start working, and at the end of the day do a little minor cleaning and walk out the door. For me, I have to have an income, it took me awhile to finally figure out that woodworking isn't it, and for the majority of people they aren't able to make a respectable income from it either. It's a retired persons hobby, someone that can take all day doing something that most people aren't willing to pay much for. Yeah I may be bitter, especially when someone tries to blow dust up my port.
