Subject:
OT - Tiles on a Garage Floor

Ric Taylor
I'm planning on a total re-do of my garage to dress it up in a significant way, resulting in 1/2 of the garage being my new shop and still parking the car in the other half.

I plan to cover the concrete floor with either ceramic or porcelain tile. I don't yet know enough about the differences between the two to make a choice (I'm in the very early planning stages).

Being a normal garage floor, there are a few automotive stains on the floor. Nothing major, but they are there, just normal wear and tear. I'm concerned that might effect the adhesion of the tile to the floor. Are there real issues here or is it not significant? Do I have to be concerned with special cleaning treatment of the concrete?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ric
