Jason, as far as painting the cars...that was around 20yrs ago....did 9 one summer...and the best one was an Alfa Romeo. the car has the battery in the right rear fender hole and the car got rearended and it smashed the battery and the acid ate away the rest. I smoothed out the metal, sanded down to clear metal, then applied some fiberglass cloth in three layers along with the epoxy...sanded smooth to 320 grit and then spray painted it and then sanded again. After sanding the entire car by hand I sprayed it with an undercoat to make sure there were no divots and sanding marks. After all this, I sprayed the car with an International Orange three coats....when dry and it was standing at the curb the paint looked wet like it wanted to run off the body. The owner was very impressed.
I do not paint cars anymore, but the experience was stimulating. There are so many thing in my life I have the knowledge of and can teach the younger ones if the want it, but in today's society all it is is electronics and gadgets.
Education- wise: 5yrs apprenticeship in Pipefitting/plumbing; Foreman on several jobs( with nary a day of labor troubles); passed an Engineering course in A/C; passed two courses in computer programming;
worked as an electrician for a couple yrs in const.; have done all sorts of construction work; built my own workshop of my own design. Once changed out my elec service in 7 hrs...ripped out old panel, installed junction box for old wiring to be connected to up-to-date wiring for new panel, installed new panel and was wiring it when I noticed someone watching me...it was the City Building Inspector...he said I knew what I was doing and signed off on the building slip and I still had 2hrs to work.
Studied and passed a Real Estate license in Calif...work mortgage refinance loans for four yrs;
Am now retired from working and am doing some woodworking just to have something to do in these retirement years. I got the snits the other day and felt like ending everything because of the feeling no one appreciated my work.
BUT, I got my perspective back, and this morning I worked on my two chair seats drilling the holes for the legs, arms, back splats etc. I want to try to have them finished by Easter.
Am in the right frame of mind again, and this episode will not happen again.
