Subject:
Selling my contractor's saw

Allen Bryant - Bumpass, VA
I have some side work coming up this weekend and after getting paid for it, I will finally have the money saved up for a new or used still not sure which, cabinet saw. Before I can get the saw I need to get rid of my current one. There just isn't enough room in my little shop to put both saws even temporarily.

Some years ago I updated my contractor saw to a 52" rip fence along with a custom made mobile base and cabinet system underneath of it. This base will not work under a cabinet saw no matter what one I end up getting, so I can't re-use it. In addition there are some features I like about it and some I don't so I plan on making a new one to go underneath the cabinet saw.

I have a couple of options here.
1. I can strip the contractor saw back down to the factory stand and fence and sell it that way. This will allow me to save a little bit of money as I can purchase the saw with a standard fence and move the 52" fence over to the cabinet saw.
2. I can sell the outfit as is complete with the mobile cabinet / base. This would be easier in some respects as the fence and extension table are built as part of the cabinet base, plus far less work. I would still give the new owner all the factory parts. Also the base has a hole cut for my router plate and router setup that will not be going with the saw.

Any thoughts? Would it even be worth trying to list with the custom base / cabinet. I doubt I could reuse any of the parts except maybe the door hinges and drawer slides. The cost to replace them would be minimal.
