Re: My Take on the Saw Stop

His offering SS is cool. But it does feel like an industry grab. He isn't satisfied with letting the market decide.

I've hurt myself on a TS, it was a trivial nick. I also got a bad kickback once, and both of these were well down the road for me. But there are so many dangers in woodworking that I can't possibly switch off my brain just because one category of accidents, not even all risks on a TS is made safer. I really sincerely wonder why people who do not trust themselves around TSs in the hobby realm would even have them in the first place. I have two at the moment, but did without for about 10 years, after selling my General. For a hobby there are many alternatives and it saves money, frees up space, and clean-up time. A lot of the hobby danger of TSs comes from leveraging them for doing every darn thing. This is a fun puzzle, but holds back development elsewhere, and leads to practices that can be unsafe. I brought the TS back, but only use it in ways that are 100% finger safe, so I don't need an SS. The real problem is the unwillingness to just say no to dangerous practices.
