Everett's Shop

A GRAB BAG OF IMAGES
Shop glimpses and a couple projects from the heartland.

SHOP OWNER: Everett McDaniel
LOCATION: Pomeroy, OH

Here are a few shots of my shop and work. I took shop long ago in school, then, about 20 years ago, I built three houses and started serious woodworking. I had no formal training. I generally just look at something and build it.
My shop is 25 ft. x 25 ft. and full. I have four wood lathes in it, along with a planer, drill press, router table, shaper and the usual woodworking tools. In the photo, you can see my Delta contractor's saw, my homemade air filter, the end of my Performax drum sander, and my Grizzly lathe.
Clock
The standing clock (right) is the first piece I made after high school. It is now 22 years old and going strong. It is made of walnut and finished with--you probably won`t believe this--vegetable oil. (ED'S NOTE: You're right, Everett; it's a stretch.) I made it with a circular hand saw and jig saw. It has butt joints and a twenty-dollar clockworks, but my wife says it is priceless.
Everett's Coffee Table
The coffee table (left) was made of hickory. I made one end table first, out of oak, as an experiment. My wife liked it, but she wanted hickory to match our kitchen. So I made two end tables and the coffee table. I found out that you need sharp tools to work hickory--it burns easily.
Leigh Jig Stand
This stand for my Leigh jig is made of black walnut. The top unbolts for portability or larger pieces. The top storage compartment is for bits and tools. Routers and so forth go underneath. The finish is clear lacquer.
