SPORTY CABINETRY Sure to satisfy any sports fan or video game enthusiast. SHOP OWNER: Brent Harral LOCATION: Burke, VA     This unusual commission was for a client that is a big fan of PlayStation 2 racing games, as well as a sports fanatic. The two blended well and we came up with this home arcade entertainment system.     At a length of nineteen feet, this project required over 18 sheets of ¾ birch ply and tons of hardware. I added some color to the car units by attaching painted 1/4" MDF panels, which also add to the arcade look and feel.           To accommodate both adults and children, the two driver’s compartments have adjustable seats and adjustable foot pedals with 18 inches of travel. Each compartment has its own 4.1 surround sound system. The speakers fit into the dash console and the subwoofer is in the trunk.       I put the left and right side TV's on lazy susans with non-mar discs so they could pivot to the front for family viewing. Another plus for this sports fanatic is he'll never miss a game. I’m glad he is happy and, more importantly, I'm glad to have some shop space back! . . .
