MAPLE KITCHEN TABLE
A welcome replacement for that folding table!SHOP OWNER: Jason Falejczyk
LOCATION: Frankfort, ILFor almost one year, our family ate meals on a plastic folding table. I started construction on this table during the winter of 2003, however once the weather broke, I found myself outside working on our Ipe deck/gazebo. After one thousand apologies to my wife, I got back into the shop this winter and completed the table.

The table is solid hard maple, with tapered legs laminated to size from 4/4 stock. The curved aprons are bent laminations that follow the same form as the top. All leg to apron joints employ double tenons. Cutting double tenons on a curved apron was quite a challenge, however the Leigh FMT made easy work of it (Ok, I'm lying...I did have around 10 test cuts!). The rough dimensions are 31" high x 42" wide x 62" to 98" long.
The finish is water-based stain (treated first with a pre-stain wood conditioner), followed by almost a dozen coats of wiped-on poly. For more information, visit my site at http://home.comcast.net/~jfalejczyk1.. . . Jason Falejczyk
