NORTH WIND
It all begins with an outline.SHOP OWNER: Jerry Cousins
LOCATION: Weaverville, CAThis is my latest marquetry project, a "rococo" face I call "North Wind". It all starts with this penciled outline that gets transferred onto the wood veneer.
The woods are: background - basswood, the beard, top curls, and surround - la pacho, cheeks and forehead - birds eye maple, eyes - gabon and macassar ebony, eyebrows - zebra, lips - redheart, horns - koa, upper leaves - canary, and the frame - alder.

Beginning the beard and lips. The white areas are masking tape.

Completed the beard, a little bit of cheek, eyes, and the outline of the horns.

More horn and cheek.

Lower part of the face done and the upper traced in.

Eyebrows, forehead, and upper curls added.

All pieces cut in and the surround added.
