HANDCRAFTED IN SWEDEN
Relief carvings reflect life's events.SHOP OWNER: Jan Blomqvist
LOCATION: Gothenburg, SwedenI live, and work in Gothenburg, Sweden as an anesthesiologist. I am also a wood carver. I use a bandsaw and a lot of sanding, and mostly I work in pine and birch. Sometimes I also use wood from apple and plum trees. I am very fond of the Hegner precision saw, a scroll saw from Germany. I suppose it is available in USA too.
I chose motives from the family, work (delivery room and pediatric hospital), religion, music, and nature. There is a lot more I would like to tell, especially for those who are interested and initiated. However, there are two problems: the language (the wood language) like technical terms about sawing, sanding, planing, etc. and then there is the time factor because of an upcoming weekend exhibition in Stockholm. I've included the titles of the photos and a brief translation.
