STRESS RELIEF
SHOP OWNER: Ellis Walentine
LOCATION: Coopersburg, PAWe all know that it pays to "acclimate" lumber--especially air-dried lumber--in your shop before using it. In my shop, we go a step further. After we've milled the wood slightly oversize, we sticker it and weight it down for a couple days to relieve some of the new stresses unleashed by the milling process. This technique helps keep the boards from warping and twisting as their moisture content moves toward equilibrium with the shop atmosphere.
