Pat Edwards' Boston Pier Table
"I first saw the original at the
Boston Museum of Fine Arts in 1978 and thought it was a classic American
example of that type. Made by Emmonds and Archibald in Boston in the
1820's, it used imported French bronze dore mounts. I searched for a
narrow crotch of mahogany veneer to fit the columns and apron, and
purchased the same mounts from the same firm in Paris--Rennotte--where
the originals came from. The mirror is a 19th-century blown piece of
glass I had silvered. The top is black marble."...W. Patrick Edwards
