Jewelry Box Contest
SEPTEMBER 25, 2004

The Competition: Design and build a jewelry box. This is a container that would normally sit on a dresser or makeup table, with compartments and/or storage devices for various types of jewelry.
    Entries are limited to jewelry boxes completed within the 2004 calendar year. Floor-standing jewelry cases are not eligible for judging.

Who may enter: This competition is open to amateurs only. An amateur makes less than 25% of his or her income from woodworking.

Deadline for entries: December 15, 2004

Entry fee: $15.00, payable by check, credit card or PayPal.

Basis for judging:
Entries will be judged based on design, craftsmanship and degree of difficulty. Design considerations include function, appearance, originality, materials selection and engineering. Craftsmanship is all about how well the piece is made and finished: tight joints, fair curves, surface preparation, appropriate and well-executed finishes, tight tolerances, etc.

    Send digital photo(s) of your completed jewelry box, along with your name, address, contact information and a description of your jewelry box (materials, theory, how you made it, etc.), to:
